WALBURGISKERK – ZUTPHEN – THE NETHERLANDS

Stage (Iconostase) was a temporary installation made of 32 ceramic parts on a 240 cm high wooden plateau. The piece was installed in a side isle of the Walburgius church dominated by a very high ceiling. The organizers had two stipulations prior to the show: no holes in the walls and no obstruction of the exit route. Therefore, the wooden construction was supported between a column and the wall and positioned at a height of 240 cm. Stage (Iconostase) created a space within a space, and the sphere on the ground offered a focal point within the newly created space. The seemingly unstable wooden our need to construct “reality” in spite of the inevitable instability of this attempt.
